LOVE CRICKET? WANT TO WORK FOR WISDEN?

Publishing Assistant, Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack

John Wisden & Co, publishers of Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack, perhaps the most famous sports book in the world, are looking for an enthusiastic graduate to work in their rural Hampshire office outside Alton.

The role will involve keyboard work in XML but there is significant scope for the right person to become an integral part of Wisden’s small editorial team.

As well as working on the Almanack, the successful applicant will also contribute to the content and day-to-day management of the Wisden website and be responsible for developing Wisden’s presence on online social networks. This is an ideal first post in publishing, and training will be available.

The successful candidate will of necessity have:
• a working knowledge of XML, in which Wisden is now created
• a love of cricket – an encyclopaedic knowledge of the game, while helpful, is not a prerequisite
• a high standard of literacy and the keenest eye for detail
• a willingness for hard work – as publication nears, the workload is demanding
• a full driving licence – there is no public transport to the Wisden offices.

Application by CV and covering letter to Hugh Chevallier, Wisden’s deputy editor (hugh.chevallier@wisden.com), by noon on July 12, 2010. Interviews will be held in the last week of July.
